Michael Baum Art: News and Announcements
July 2008

 High Desert Twilight
Fajada Butte in Chaco Canyon, New Mexico, at sundown on a windy day. The atmosphere glowed with suspended dust particles. When the wind died, brief serenity filled the canyon.

High Desert Twilight is currently available for sale at the studio.

News
The plein-air painting continues. I’m getting out at least once a week. It’s a lot like fishing. Sometimes you get something, sometimes you don’t. But it’s always nice just being out there.

Plein-air paintings

Pikes Peak from Stetson Hills, oil, 9” x 12” (available)

Rockledge Ranch, oil, 9” x 12” (available)

Right now in the Studio…

With High Desert Twilight and Vertigo completed, I needed a break from the large paintings.  I haven’t been very active in the studio this month (too much fun painting outdoors). I have made a couple of small paintings in the studio. These go so fast
I didn’t make progress photos. Here is one of the nearly completed paintings.

Desert Two-Track, oil, 14” x 18”
(not quite finished)

Journal
Read the adventures (and non-adventures) of an artist. What’s the story behind the paintings? Every event is shockingly true. Read the Journal if you dare.
