In the Studio and on the Road
There's a lot of painting going on in the studio. I finished up the paintings for the Governor's Art Show. You can see them at the show through November 1. I'm continuing to put in a lot of hours preparing for the show at Manitou Galleries coming up November 6.
This is a painting of cliffs at Ghost Ranch near Abiquiu, NM. I got focused in on the sky right away and painted it almost to completion. This is a little risky, since I haven't even blocked in the cliffs. But I think it's going to work in this case. Once finished, the cliffs will be glowing in the late afternoon sunlight, dramatically contrasting with the deep blue sky and dark clouds. That's the plan, anyhow. You can see how it turns out in next month's newsletter, or better yet, see it in person at Manitou Galleries in November.
