Park City, Utah, comes alive in the winter. With snow blanketing the mountains, the ski areas are busy. And when you're not hitting the slopes you can wander downtown Park City with its restaurants, shops, and galleries. You can always see my work at Summit Gallery right downtown.

In the Studio and on the Road...

Studio shot 2-26-22.jpg

The studio tends to be cool in the winter, and it's been downright nippy with these late-winter cold snaps we are having. It has been below zero several times in the past week.

Paint dries slowwwwwly when it's cold, even with space heaters cranking away. This has forced me to paint more wet-in-wet than I usually do, and that has been helpful in honing my skills in that direction.

Still, I like to go back with a few crisp strokes over the dry painting, to make it pop a little more. As I write this, there are five 90% complete paintings lined up in the studio, drying at a painfully slow rate. It's like watching paint dry, literally. Summer can't get here soon enough.
